Biography:
At the age of four, Fiona's mother died leaving her with her abusive and alcoholic father. She has no other siblings, so she always got the full force of his anger. Most of her time was spent in her room reading, or doing anything that kept her away from her father. He didn't let her go out much, only to her muggle school and the occasional shopping for cheap clothes at the local consignment shop.
School was like an escape for her throughout her childhood because she could be away from her father for those glorious 8 hours of the day. She didn't have any close friends, but was kind with the other students. Characters of books were her closest friends. She would read through the lunch period and on the bus on the way home.
Her first signs of magic started to appear around the age of nine. Her father would be yelling at her, and she would nonverbally cast the Muffliato spell on him so she couldn’t hear him scream. A few other times she ended up magicking her door locked from across her bedroom. When she got her Hogwarts letter dropped off in front of her home by an owl, her father thought it was some sort of joke she was playing, so he took the unopened letter and locked her in her bedroom. Then three more owls appeared at her window sill the next morning. She opened the window and they flew right in, each dropping an envelope with green text on her desk. When she read the letter, she was in disbelief. Fiona was a witch. She always wished her life would be like one of her stories she read, and finally she may be able to be whisked off to her fairy tale.
Her father would not allow it. He did not believe the nonsense that she was a witch. It was the day before the train left for Hogwarts, when the Headmaster showed up at their front door, asking to speak with Fiona. He told her all about Hogwarts and that it really was a true place. The Headmaster, himself escorted her to Diagon Alley that day to get her supplies and to Platform 9 ¾ the following day.
Hogwarts was magnificent, everything she could have ever dreamed of in her imagination. The castle was beautiful and she always wanted to explore new places within it. It was slow for her to make new friends, because she knew nothing of the wizarding world. She made a few friends within her house, but no one really close. In academics she wasn’t the brightest witch, yet she wasn’t the slowest either. She got lazy with her homework sometimes, and let it wait until the last minute. She still ended up passing.
Every summer it was horrid to return to her father’s home. He would beat her worse now that she was a witch. He did it out of fear that Fiona was more powerful than him. But she knew she couldn’t perform magic outside of school to protect herself. Every September the Headmaster, or another professor, had to come and retrieve her from her home, because her father wouldn’t let her leave.
As she grew older, she learned to accept her life the way it was. It was amazing that she was a witch, and terrible that she still had to deal with her father. It was a blessing though for her to be free from her father for those nine months while at Hogwarts. She would spend a lot of her free time reading story books from the library. Tales of witches and wizards were always floating through her mind. She always seemed to be off in her dream world.
Slowly her fantasy world in books was not enough to keep her sane and she slipped into a deep bout of depression in her 6th year. She had no one to remind her that she was wanted in this world and often felt like she just wanted to get out. The only thing that kept her hanging on was the thought of her mother, and how unhappy it would have made her if Fiona took her own life.
