Sitting as per usual in the library, Penelope Matthews was somewhat ashamed to admit she even had claimed a certain table in the corner as 'her table' she was in the library that often..
Scanning through some of the large pile of books she had collected at her side, she was researching the art of Occlumency as part of a Defense against the Dark Arts assignment. Penny was half way through the 'first draft' of her two foot essay and still going strong..
So absorbed in the books she was reading, she didnt notice at all when someone sat themselves right next to her. She flipped another page eagerly...

Echos of footsteps bounced off the wall as James made his way up the stairs towards the library. His school robes billowed behind him as he caught up some speed once on the landing of the floor. He had his back pack slung loosely over his shoulder, which carried a few of his school books and assorted things. The most important things in there however were his magical map of the school and his special find book about the history of Hogwarts.
He expected the library to be filled with its normal volume of students, mostly first years wandering around curiously, but this evening it was a bit more crowded. It was just after diner so he figured it might be just a swarm of students gathering things they needed for their classes, and then they'd be gone. James scanned the room, eyes falling on the hundreds of shelves of books and the many tables already occupied by students. He sighed as he pushed his way passed a few students, looking for a place to sit.
Accidentally he stepped on the toe of a first year and stopped to apologize. When he finally looked back up, he saw Penny sitting at a table in the corner with a large pile of books next to her. James swallowed nervously as his stomach did some sort of flip flop. He remembered the last time he saw her. It was in Diagon Alley when she had kissed him goodbye. James bit his lip trying to muster up some courage.
After a moment of hesitation, another student knocked into the back of him which spurred him on. James moved through the maze of tables, bookcases, and students until he finally reached Penny. He adjusted his bag on his shoulder and gave her a bright smile.
"May I sit here?" he asked politely, not waiting for her to answer as he sat down. James plopped his bag on the table and nonchalantly started unloading his things.

Busily scrolling down a page, Penny literaly jumped when she heard a voice beside her, "May I sit here?" Quickly turning in her seat to see whom it was interrupting her busy working schedule, she half expected it to be a Weasley relative.. They were everywhere and were quite the jokers. But then she thought it was a bit of a polite sentence to be joke worthy.. Anyway she was about to give the perpatrator a peice of her mind, when she suddenly realised who it was...
"Oh! Hey James!" she said, instantly switching her annoyed expression for a happy one. "How are you? What are you up to?" she asked eagerly as he unpacked all of his work things.. Penny snapped shut the book she was reading, only momentarily feeling a jolt of anxiety in her stomach for the fact that she'd just lost her page...

"Oh! Hey James! How are you? What are you up to?" she said, her face turning from annoyed to happy.
All of his things were finally unloaded onto the table. He turned to her, leaning on one elbow, and gave her a smile. "I'm good! Really good. I'm glad to be back," James began happily. He lazily flipped open his book, The Untold Ancient History of Hogwarts, and continued talking. "I'm just, you know, taking another look through this old book I bought in Diagon Alley..." He was really determined to find a certain secret passageway... and he had an idea where it was. He just needed another clue to prove it. "Remember what I told you about the passageways?" he asked in a whisper, leaning in close. "I'm almosts positive I know where this one is..."
He sat back, pausing the page turning of his book. James scanned the room, hoping that no one was listening in on them. Relieved, he sat back in his chair and looked at Penny again." What about you? How have you been?"

Penny smiled as James told her was glad to be back, "Remember what I told you about the passageways?" She nodded, leaning closer, with widened eyes, "I'm almosts positive I know where this one is..." Penny grinned excitedly, trying her best to withold an excited squeel..
Penny watched as James looked around the room to check from eavesdroppers, before completely changing the subject, " What about you? How have you been?" Penny just blinked for a moment, still leant towards James trying to comprehend why he would move on from the awesomely exciting topic of conversation to something relatively boring.. like herself.
"Seriously? you seriously got me all excited to then ask about me?" she asked sounding highly amused. "Well, im fine, I've just been working and waiting for you to show up with an exciting mission! and since that has just ocurred, I say we quit the books and head out to this mystery location!" she whispered excitedly bouncing in her seat and grinning like an idiot...

"Seriously? You seriously got me all excited to then ask about me?"
"Well ,um..." he tried to add in.
"Well, I'm fine, I've just been working and waiting for you to show up with an exciting mission! And since that has just ocurred, I say we quit the books and head out to this mystery location"
James blinked for a few moments. He was truely interested in knowing how she was, though an exlporing mission did sound really fun right about then. That was the reason why he was in the library anyway.
"Really?" he asked giving her a goofy smile. James started flipping through his book again, looking for a certain passage of text. His eyes scanned over the page and read it aloud. "The Come and Go Room has many secrets such as the room of hidden things. Many more secrets are still hidden and only known by the original four founders of Hogwarts." James paused and looked up at her, a big smirk on his face. "Or so it was believed. Helga Hufflepuff once shared the secret with a close friend of hers who then passed it down through their relatives. It has managed to reach myself, the author of this book, and I will share it with the readers. Its a very dangerous secret, so readers beware." He stopped reading again and added his own comment. "This is why the book was banned and no one speaks of it... One must think of a room where one can fall between the space of reality and the world of non-existence, the place where disappeared objects go. The person trying to enter must have a firm grasp on the logistics of charms and transfiguration. They must also have no fear... This is a really dangerous place to go, though very interesting... We could find all the things people disappeared. We just have to know how to get back."

Penny listened as James read out some of the information he'd found in the book. Raising her eyebrows she puffed her cheeks out some, "Well, thats very um.. philosophical... between reality and non-existance? You think you can do that?" She asked sounding alittle apprehensive, before shaking it off and adding quickly, "I'm sure you can!"
She excitedly shoved all her things into her bag and turned back to James, "So where do you think it is?" she asked in a hushed voice, before changing her mind yet again and adding, "Actually forget it, just take me there!" she giggled some wasting no time by standing up abruptly and slinging her bag over her shoulder, "Comon Potter lets go!" she grinned tugging at his sleeve.

"Well, thats very um.. philosophical... between reality and non-existance? You think you can do that?"
"I'm sure its just a room..." James said uneasily. This was why he was in the library. He needed to do a bit more research on the realm of diasappeared objects. It was a very deep subject to understand. The Come and Go Room was obviously the place where they needed to go to get to the secret passageway. It was also known as the Room of Requirement and he was very familiar with how that room worked. Throughout his years at Hogwarts he made lots of use out of the room. For example, a bathroom, another library, a quiet place to study, a place where he could find a midnight snack.
This time however it would be different. He half expected it to look like the Room of Hidden Things, which was another part of the Room of Requirement. This secret room could also look like an abyss of nothing, which frightened him. Because an abyss of nothing was exactly what the realm of disappeared objects was. Just a black void of things suspended in a vaccuum of space. That made him nervous as to how they would get back to Hogwarts.
James was momentarily lost in his thoughts when he notcied Penny tugging at his sleeve. "Er... all right. Let's go then." He packed up his things quickly, linked his arm with hers, and pulled her out of the library. He felt a sudden rush of determination. That and the fact that if he didn't act quickly his reasonable side would kick in and tell him not to do it. James paused once around the corner of the library. The hall was deserted and quiet, because it ws about that time where all students headed back to their common rooms. He dug into his pocket and opened the Marauder's Map. "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good," he said with the tip of his wand on the parchment. Like always, tendrils of ink swirled out from his wand and covered the pages. "Just to be sure no one is following us..."

"Er... all right. Let's go then."
Penny grinned excitedly as they linked arms and strolled casually out from the library. Shortly James stopped and Penny awkwardly stumbled to a stop with him, as she wasnt expecting them both to stop so suddenly.. Though any annoyance she might have felt vanished when she watched James pull out that folded old parchment that she knew was a secret map of the whole school. Her eyes widened as her tapped the front with his wand..
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,.. Just to be sure no one is following us..."
Penny grinned and nodded some as they began walking once more.. She clutched at James' arm as if she was drowning and he was her lifeline.. "this is soo cool, Im SO excited!" she said in a high pitched excited tone as they walked the corridors.
Eventually they ended up infront of a blank wall.. something of an anti-climax, Penny thought to herself as she looked at James expectantly. "Okay I'm ready to be amazing Mr. Potter" She grinned, still clutching onto his arm..

James led her way up to the seventh floor to the corridor with the tapestry of the trolls doing ballet. He still had his arms linked with Penny, though he didn't mind. She was really excited, and he was too... and a little nervous. This really was kind of dangerous. He didn't want to put Penny in any risky situations, but she seemed ready for anything.
He sighed and let go of her arm and started pacing in front of the blank wall across from the tapestry. To any bystander who didn't know or understand his intentions, he would just look like a very perplexed person trying to think. But in reality he was trying to get the door to appear. I want to go to the place where disappeared objects go. I want to go to the place where disappeared objects go. he thought to himself.
Soon the center of the empty wall began to chip off pieces of stone in a swirling pattern. The engraved stone soon turned into the shape of a door way, which then transformed into wood. With a final soft pop, a brass handle squeezed itself out of the door.
"Well, this is it..." he said quietly as he walked towards the door. James glanced at Penny once more before creaking the door open. His mouth dropped open, not in shock but in disappointment. The Room of Requirement transformed into the same room where people hid their things. James had already been there loads of times. He continued to open the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind Penny. He folded up the map and shoved it in his pocket, then set his bag defeatedly on the floor. "This isn't it," he sighed." This is the Room of Hidden Things. I don't understand..." James started to tap his foot on the ground as he pondered. But I thought the correct sentence. I think... Why would it take me here? he thought, holding his chin.

"Well, this is it..."
Penny grinned as the door materialised before them and James took one last look at her before opening the door..
"This isn't it," he sighed." This is the Room of Hidden Things. I don't understand..."
Stepping inside the room, Penny couldnt mask the small sigh of disapointment as it left her lips. Stepping around James and further into the room, she stun around to face him, "Maybe they're one in the same? you know, one is just the name for the other?" she shrugged, lazily picking up an old potions book and flicking through, not really paying much attention..
"Or.. Maybe you need to think differently.." She suggested, throwing the book onto the large pile she'd taken it from.. She thought about what James had said back in the library, when he has explained what he was they needed to do to gain access to the room..
"Maybe instead of asking for the room, you should ask for the concept.. I duno.." She shrugged again nonchalently, though her mind didnt stop whirring..
"Well I say while we think of a different method, we should have some fun! Merlin knows whats in here.." she laughed scratching her head lightly and gazing around.. Suddenly she winked at James and turned running off down one of the aisles crammed with random objects..
Slowing down once she had evaded James' eye, Penny began gazing around at all of the different random artifacts that had been stowed within the room at various points over the years..
Suddenly something caught her attention, a wooden box that was shaking furiously on a shelf. ingruiged by this unusual sight, she stepped over to it and unconcernedly picked it up, examining the shaking box, though it had no visable marking on it, before she decided that she would open it anyway...
CRASH!!!
Penny screamed as the bludger flew out of the box, narrowly missing her face and crashed into the stand behind her, showing Penny in glass from an old vase.. Throwing her hand over her head trying to protect herself, Penny cowered down as the bludger came back for another go, this time connecting with her right arm with a sickening CRACK! "Ahhhh!!!" she screamed clutching at her arm...

James continued to ponder as Penny kept naming off suggestions as to what could have happened. It might have been what he was thinking, but he thought it was clear enough as to where he wanted to go. He sighed and looked over to Penny apologetically.
"Well I say while we think of a different method, we should have some fun! Merlin knows whats in here.." she said with a wink, and taking off running down an isle of junk.
"Er..." he stuttered with a goofy smile on his face. James stood frozen as he watched her disappear. He chewed on the inside of his lip nervously. Fun? What kind of fun...? His stomach did a little flip. That's ridiculous, James. Stop thinking that. She doesn't like you. Penny's just really friendly.
Shaking his head, he started following after her with a quick step. He could hear some rattling around so he followed the noise. Suddenly there was a large crash and crack sound, and then he heard a scream...
With his heart in his throat, he ran towards the location of the noise. Penny was clutching her arm, and there was glass everywhere. Not to mention the bludger flying around the room bashing things here and there. James whipped out his wand and aimed it at the bludger. "Finite Incantatem!" he yelled. The bludger exploded into hundreds of glittery shards which fell softly to the ground and lightly dusted a few items. Wand still out, James hurried to Penny's side and gently directed her to a small wooden chair. "Here, sit down. What happened? Are you okay?" he asked nervously as he inspected her arm without touching it.

There was a rush of relief as Penny heard James close by yelling out of the countercurse and then rushing to herself, guiding her over to a chair. Her arm was throbbing unbeleivably.
"Here, sit down. What happened? Are you okay?"
Penny loosened her grip on her arm alittle and looked up at James, "I was stupid... Should have known instantly what it was..." she winced some at the pain, "Im fine though.. I've had worse. Do you think you could episkey it for me?" She commented with a small laugh.
She looked at James' concerned expression and smiled lightly at his kindness..

"I was stupid... Should have known instantly what it was...Im fine though.. I've had worse. Do you think you could episkey it for me?" she said wincing.
James gave a weak smile and knelt in front of her. "Sure, I'll fix it for you," he said comfortingly. James grasped her injured arm ever so delicately with his free hand. He looked over it, analyzing what was wrong with it. Broken, obviously. It was just important to know what one was fixing before actually doing the spell for fear of "fixing' the wrong thing. Gently, he pushed up the sleeve of her shirt to reveal the broken arm. It was bruising on the outside already.
His hand stayed steady, resting on her hand, as he pointed his wand at her arm. He gave her one more reassuring glance before saying, "Episky!" James looked up at her, to see if she felt all right. He wasn't worried that the spell didn't work. He had mended his siblings on quite a few occasions. He just didn't want her to be in pain anymore, and sometimes there was an after effect. That spell was only for minor injuries, so sometimes making it work a little harder than its supposed to could leave some residual pain. Wanting to be sure she felt alright he asked, "Do you want me to put a splint on it too? Maybe just to be safe?" James stared her in the eyes, with his hand still covering hers.

Penny's eyes followed James as he knelt infront of her and began examining her arm.. Even though he was being extremely gentle as he pushed up the sleeve of her shirt, she still felt waves over fresh pain wash over her, making her feel lightheaded and quite sick, but she didn't care so much, she was just glad she wasn't on her own..
"Episky!"
Penny felt her arm instantly crack and weld back into its rightful place, initially the movement caused yet another stab of pain, an she gasped and let out a small whimper, gripping James' hand tightly and biting her lip some.. But the pain soon passed and all that was left was a dull ache, which she knew would soon disappear as long as she rested the arm and didnt do anything else stupid for afew hours...
"Do you want me to put a splint on it too? Maybe just to be safe?"
Penny locked eyes with James once more and shook her head alittle, "No no, It's fine. Thankyou" She smiled and without a second thought as to why or whether she should, she leaned forward and kissed him on the lips. The hand on his squeezing slightly before threading her fingers with this..
Quite soon, rationality bit back and she pulled away, "Uhm.. Sorry just got caught up in the moment..." she laughed some, glancing away and then back to James, secretly trying to gauge his reaction..
