Lorcan laid his head down on his arms, as the first early risers began filling into the Great Hall and sitting at their respective tables. He had actually been up for a few hours now, after some random Ravenclaw's cat had tried to use him as a scratching post. Plus, he had been hungry, so he didn't bother trying to fall asleep on the Common Room's lumpy couch. Opening his battered and tattered paper-back copy of Gone With The Wind, and picking at the remains of his two bagels, Lorcan began trying to lose himself in old time wars. The kind that had nothing to do with magic. The normal kind. Eventually, the American south began to bore him, so he pulled out his parchment and began doodling on the back of his half-done Potions essay. He wasn't all that great, but doodles always looked fancy when done in ink from a feather. Silently, as always, he wondered why he couldn't just use a pen. That was why they were invented, were they not? Lorcan's frown deepened as he watched a number of Ravenclaw girls -the same ones who were constantly obsessed with harassing him- sat, just a few seats away. Nearly instantaneously, they all began point and giggling, making the sixth year snap his quil in frustration, and accidenly dump his inkwell over his essay. "Just my luck" He growled, angrily.

Lucy yawned as she slipped out of the Gryffindor Common Room. she was always up early, well accept the one time she had accidentally overslept this year, she still had not mananged to figure out how that had happened. Oh well, that was the past, and Lucy Weasley did not dwell on the past, she lived in the present.
She tiredly walked through the halls, her normal bounciness not present at the moment because she was still trying to wake up.She slowly, and carefully decended the staircase, and walked into the Great Hall. Looking around she noticed that there were very few Gryffindors sitting at the Gryffindor table. She looked at the Ravenclaw table and saw some of the girls giggling at something, or rather someone. She never did like people who made fun of others, it was rude and mean. Silly little twits, ought to be nicer to people. she thought silently to herself.
She was always liked to make a new friend, and the boy looked frustrated, so she headed over to his table.Walking over to him she noticed upon arrival at the table, that he had spilt some ink on the parchment that was most likely his essay. She gently tapped his shoulder and smiled at him."Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked him.

Lorcan jumped with a start, horribly botching his Scourgify job, making the ink look far more splattered than it was before. He was pretty sure he had ink all over his face, as well, as he looked up, cautiously. Glancing over his shoulder, it was a girl he had often spotted with the Gryffindors. And with the red hair she must've been a Weasley. Had the little brats sent her over? It was rare that anyone join him, especially this early, but Lorcan was raised not to be rude -at least not to ladies- and he nodded. "Uh...sure" He pulled his stuff off of the seat she had indicated, and shoved his book into his satchel. Wiping his face with his sleeve -sure enough, there was a bit of ink- he waved his wand, muttering "Scourgify" Under his breath, hastily. "Sorry about the...uh ink. I... uh dumped it everywhere" As if that wasn't obvious. Here he was, already making a fool of himself, and he didn't even know her. He cotinued his cleaning rampage, becoming momentarily distracted by the way the ink was being absorbed by the table, creating an almost starburst effect. "No offense, but why aren't you with your house?"

Lucy smiled and sat down."Thanks. Im Lucy Weasley." she said giving him another small smile. She watched him attempt to get the rest of the ink cleaned up."Here let me help." she said grabbing a couple of napkins and started wiping away some of the spreading ink, and casting a few scourgfys herself. She smiled at him when he apologized about the ink,"Its alright, I've done the same thing way to many times to count." she said. Her smile softened when he asked her why she had sat down by him, instead of at her House table."Well, I saw how those silly little ninnys over there were laughing at you for no real reason, and well you seem like a nice guy, so here I am. I thought maybe we could get to know each other. I dont see why those girls were laughing at you, its not like you did anything to make them laugh at you for no reason, they are very rude if you ask me." she said going on a bit of a rampage about how mean and rude those girls were being to him."Sorry." she said blushing a bit."I tend to get carried away sometimes." she said looking at a drop of ink that was spreading, hoping that her long red hair would mask the blush she knew was heating her freckled cheeks right now.

"Yeah, I don't even know why either. Guess I just don't fit the Ravenclaw 'image'" He frowned, knowing he had to stop, or, like Lucy, he'd begin to rant. "I'm Lorcan Scamander" He said. "No need to blush, ranting is fine. I get carried away, as well." He returned her smile with his own, and wiped his hands on his shirt once he had mopped up all the ink from the table. His once blue shirt was spattered all over with black stains, some of them looking like curious things to his eye. One, right below his elbow, reminded him, strangely of an old hat, while one above his belly button looked almost like a poodle. He chuckled, and turned back to Lucy. "Are you always up this early? I don't know how you can stand it." He stiffled a yawn, and propped hismelf up on his elbow. So she was a Weasley. He had been right, at least. His eyelids drooped, and he had to mentally shake himself awake. Checking his watch, he noted it wasn't even seven-thirty yet, another fact that made him smile. He hoped none of his classes were too consuming today. He wouldn't survive if they were.

Lucy smiled and lifted her head up and moved her hair out of her face."Im sure you fit in Ravenclaw just fine. Girls like that...Girls like that just like to be mean for meaness' sake." she said sending a glare over towards the giggling girls"Its very nice to meet you Lorcan."she said when he introduced himself to her.
She smiled when he asked if she was always up this early."Yes I am. Well except the one and only time I overslept. I like to get an early start to my classes and stuff. Plus the Great Hall is much quiter when its early." she said with a small giggle. She could not help but grin at his shirt."Do you want me to spell it clean for you?" she asked him."You know, if there was something I could do to help you get those little ninnys shut up and leave you alone you just have to ask. I would love to help." she said smiling at him again. She really did not understand why the girls liked to torment the poor boy. He was very nice, and she did not see how he did not fit the "ravenclaw image". People are mean in nature, some more than others. she thought to herself, with a small sigh, running her hand through her long hair again.

"Nah, it's fine. Don't worry about it, the girls will eventually go away, I'm sure. They'll get distracted by something shiny, and leave me alone." He nodded, in appreciation. "Though, if you could help with my shirt, that'd be really nice of you. I've never been the best at Scourgify. It's just not my forte, I guess" He shrugged, "I guess it's a little quieter, now than it iss at say... nin o'cock when normal -no offense- people start to wake up. If it wasn't for that stupid cat I don't think I'd even be up." He yawned, and this time it escape his lips. "I'll get some coffee, for Potions. And maybe some more for Muggle Studies" He laughed. "This isn't exactly how I expected the first week of school to be. I was hoping something interesting would happen, but, I guess if there isn't any peaceful times, everythign exciting wouldn't be...exciting" He was babbling, which he always did when tired. While most people merely got cranky, Lorcan was quite the opposite. When exhausted, he would get incredibly talkative, somethign he never was when wide awake. His parents had often got sick of his random comments, and had forced him to go to sleep. He really needed that coffee.

She smiled at him."Well if your sure. But dont hesitate to ask if you need some help in making them shut up and leave you alone." she said. She laughed and pulled out her wand before casting the cleaning spell on his shirt."Scourgify" she said and smiled when his shirt was once again spotless."There, good as new!" she said smiling brightly at him.
She laughed at his comment about normal people."Well, I've never been what one would call normal, you can ask anyone of my family members." she said with another giggle."It is much quiter now, I like it this way." she said smiling softly. She cocked her head a bit to one side when he said something about a cat."Oh? A cat? What happened?" she asked interestedly. She smiled softly when he said he was not expecting his first week of school to drag on so peacefully."Yes, I suppose this isnt how I expected my first week of school to be either. I've always been the shy one in my family, and well I've managed to make a few friends already, i guess I'm coming out of my shell." she said with a small laugh."Hmmm I think I could go for some coffee too." she said with a small yawn"I dont want to fall asleep again before my class" she said with a small giggle.
