Lucy was not in a good mood. She had been late to her first class, had completely missed breakfast, and to top it all off she had a head ache. Today was not a good day. So, Lucy being Lucy, she did the only thing she could do that she knew would bring her mood up: she went and hid in the library. She loved the quiet of it , whenever she was here she felt calm and her anger seemed to dissipitate.
So here she was storming down the corridor towards the one place she knew she would find a little bit of peace and quiet. She smiled softly when she saw the door to the library and sped her pace up a bit. She entered and let out a sigh, and found a table where she placed her school bag in a chair. She walked over to one of the many bookshelves and browsed through the books."Hmmm what to read?" she muttered to herself. The shelf was filled with a ton of books, all of which she would love to read, but she knew she couldnt do that. So she pulled a potions book off the shelf and began to browse through it quickly. She smiled again to herself deciding that this was the book she would read, and then started to head back to her table.

Hidden among the organized chaos of endless bookshelves stacked with an endless number of brightly bound novels and history books, was someone who would not normally even think about stepping foot in a library, but he'd been threatened by his father this year. If he didn't make top of the class, then that was it. There wouldn't be anymore choices. His life would be planned out for him, step by step, class by class, day by day. Of course, it wouldn't really be much different than now. Everyone already formed an opinion of him before they even knew him. Whether that opinion was good or bad didn't interest Scorpius. The mere fact that everyone had formed an image of him, a life, or some future for him, ticked the Slytherin boy off like no one could even imagine. There was no reason to sink down into the pit his father had dug for him anymore than he'd already sank, and so here he was, his nose in an herbology book.
Just as his eyes scanned over the next page, titled Hellbore, a soft thud echoed thorough the silent room. He looked up, but saw no one, so he kept reading about the uninteresting plant. Apparently, it could be used to make some strange hiccuping potion. How lame. A few minutes passed, and Scorpius just nonchalantly flipped through the pages, until a quiet voice whispered from somewhere behind him. It was pretty sad that he was this bored, but he actually put his book down and glanced over his shoulder to try and figure out who it was. Huh... Maybe it's one of those Potters.' Boy. That would be a interesting. Well, not really. He'd been going to Hogwarts with them for six years. Of course, all the old family grudges stood to a certain extent, but it made school a little more... fun? No, that isn't quite the right word. Perhaps the family feud doesn't add much drama, but it's enough to take give him ways to daze off during class.
Shoving the herbology book aside, Scorpius raised out of the chair, and began to prowl along the bookshelves. Suddenly, a though occurred to him, and he threw his head to the side, peering over his shoulder. He wouldn't want someone he knew the actually see him here. No one would ever let him hear the end of that. Quickening his pace, he sharply rounded a corner, and BAM! Collided with something smaller than him. 'Ah dang. Who'd I just run into?' The thought was immediatly answered, or at least partly answered, as crimson hair came into view. 'A Weasley.' Slowly stretching across his ashen face was a sneer, but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Wouldn't want this girl to see his wicked smile. It might just scare her. Pushing himself off the ground, Malfoy raised an eyebrow at the Weasley girl, it was Lucy. She was in his year, 6th, but was a Gryffindor. Of course.
"Watch where you're going." Now wait. That didn't make sense. He'd been the one not looking. Ah well. He wasn't apologizing. Still, he wasn't a complete jerk. With hat in mind, Scorpius bent down and scooped up the book she'd been carrying. Potions. That was interesting. He'd never thought that any of the Weasleys actually liked that class. "So, uh... you alright?" The blond almost coughed after he'd asked the question, but he couldn't take it back now.

Lucy smiled to herself as she continued to skim through the book as she walked. She hadn’t expected to run into someone, or well actually someone to run into her. She fell of course, and frowned a bit when she heard the boy tell her to watch where she was going. She carefully stood back up and muttered “Sorry bout that, I’ll try to watch where I’m walking next time.” She couldn’t help but smile a bit when he asked if she was okay.”Oh yea I’m fine. You?” she said softly, looking down , attempting to use her long crimson hair to hide the equally crimson blush that heated her cheeks. Why is it that I always wind up in situations that cause me to blush?” she thought to herself.”Today really just is not my day.”
She peaked up a bit and finally realized just who exactly she had run into: Scorpius Malfoy. She had heard stuff about him from her family, but thought that some of it was rather biased. She was not going to judge him by what her family told her. No, she would decide how she felt about him by the way he acted, and his actions towards her. She noticed that he was holding her potions book, and blushed a bit deeper before speaking again. “Uhm, sorry again about running into you, I can be a bit clumsy at times.” She said softly." So what uh brings you to the library? Im in here practically daily, and I havent really seen you around." she said softly. She was shy, and well for some reason this boy made her feel extra shy, why though? She wasnt quite sure at the present time.

With an almost charming smile, Scorpius blew out a slow breath and brushed back a lock of silvery blond hair that had fallen across his eyes. The Weasley had actually apologized for running into him. Of course, she had to know it was his fault, and yet she didn't stand up for herself. That wasn't very much like a Weasley, but it was very much like Lucy. She was quite shy. In all the years he'd been here, she hadn't said a single word to him, but maybe that shouldn't be so surprising, considering who he was. An eyebrow was raised as the girl echoed is question, asking him if he would be alright. Amusement glinted in his cold, gray eyes and he had to catch himself before he laughed at the thought. "I don't know. I think you may have bruised something." He furrowed his brow, and jokingly checked his arm for injury. Sliding his gaze back to Lucy, he slyly smiled and let out a faint chuckle. She'd caught him in a good mood. Lucky her.
After awhile, it seemed that she finally gained enough courage to take a glimpse of who'd collided with her. He watched for something to twich. Her eye. Her lips. Something to show that she was either furious, scared, or hateful, but to his amazement there wasn't a trace of anything except a darker blush. Embarrassed? What for? Confused, he followed her eyes to the book and then tilted his head back in acknowledgment. That's right, he'd picked up her book. "Don't be sorry. Just don't do it again." It wasn't a threat or even a warning, more like helpful advice. It was the best he was going to do, anyway.
When Lucy remarked that she'd never seen him here, he smirked. "The written word doesn't mean much. I'm inclined to believe that reading is a waste of time." If it wasn't for a few well-thought-out threats from his father, Scorpius wouldn't have ever set foot in this room, but he couldn't tell Lucy that. In his experience, situations went downhill whenever he mentioned his family, especially in front of a Weasley or Potter. "Let's just say that I'm here only because I need to get high marks this year." It was said quietly -it was a library, after all- but the underlying bitterness was evident beneath the cleverly faked, calm tone.
"So... What are you reading here?" Scorpius asked just to make conversation. Without waiting for an answer, though, he pulled to book up and read the cover before flipping to the first few pages. "A potions book?" A sneer stained his lips. "Who read a potions book for fun?" Well, someone who comes to the library daily, obviously. "What happened today to make you want to-?"He had to cut himself off before he messed up and said 'sulk in the library.' "-spend your time here?" To be honest, the Slytherin didn't much care about her personal life, but hey, he was bored.

She smiled and giggled softly at his joke. He was being nice it seemed, and Lucy was thankful for that. he wasn't as bad as some people made him out to be, sure he was a little arrogant, but he was nice enough. She slowly started to relax a bit more in his presence, and slowly the blush on her cheeks faded.
He made a comment about not being sorry, and she smiled softly at him."Yea, I don't intend to let something like this happen again. I don't like letting my clumsiness show through, I have worked pretty hard the past couple of years to be as poised as I possibly could." she said with another small laugh. She really had worked to be poised and graceful(not that it worked all the time), she hated being clumsy.
She let out a mock gasp as he said reading was a waste of time."Oh but it isnt! Reading can be enjoyable if you find something you actually want to read." she said with a dramatic tone in her voice. She laughed again"But really, reading can be enjoyable, you just have to be interested in what you are reading." she said with a bright smile.
Her eyes widened as he took a look at the potions book, and then asked her why she would want ti read a potions book. Can I trust him to not tll anyone if I tell him? I havent asked yet, and well there is only a few people in the family that know about my dream. Well I have to tell him something, and I suck at lying. Truth it is I guess she thought to herself. She took a deep breath, and then blurted out"I want to be a potions mistress! There I said it, now you can laugh at me." she said with another blush."And I like to spend my time here reading, and I want top marks, I always strive to have the best grades possible." she said the blush still heating her pale freckled cheeks.

This was certainly an odd turn in the situation. It would seem that blushing little Lucy suddenly became more sure of herelf, smiling and giggling like a young girl. To this, Scorpius wasn't sure what to do. He'd never actually made one of the Weasleys laugh before, so this was a milestone in his life. Whether it was good or bad, he couldn't really decide, so he decided that it was best to just ignore it and move on.
Things went back to normal pretty quickly, however, as Lucy again spoke of being clumsy. It was an embarrassing trait for sure, but Malfoy couldn't say that he'd ever been clumsy. He'd certainly never been called a klutz. In fact, it was just the opposite. People often commented about the way he moved, fluidly and with confidence. Supposedly, he'd got it from his grandfather, but that could very well be a load of crap. Whatever it was, the tall boy was glad to have such grace, though he'd rather not call it that. Life would be a thousand times worse if he had to deal with tripping over his own two feet.
A slow smile formed on his lips as Lucy quickly inhaled in a gasp. The usually bitter glint in his charcoal-gray eyes seemed less sharp, and he almost laughed. It was so close, but the sound just never came. Still, with a disbelieving glance at the potions book, he shook his head. "I guess I'll just take your word for it." Reading was not his thing, but the whole conversation was beginning to remind him that he really needed to get back to his own wretched studies. But... Well, that could wait. He was too curious about why in the world she'd be reading a boring, old potions book to go bury his nose in a bunch of information about plants.
Scorpius drummed his fingers against his side while he waited for her to answer him. His blond hair was in it's usual state of disarray today, but it looked alright, even good, on him. Out of no where, Lucy's voice broke the tense silence. I want to be a potions mistress! There was no hiding the surprise on Malfoy's ashen face. His eyes must have been big as saucers, but he was an accomplished actor and the mocking laughter he had in store for her remained silent. "Laugh at you?" he asked smoothly. "Now why would I ever want to do that? It's an ambitious goal... especially for a..." he stopped before he could actually say 'Weasley', but she'd understand. "But, yeah, keep your grades up and you've got a shot."
Still clutching her book, Malfoy turned and took a step to the side. "You want to come sit down at my table?" Woah. That was strange, and not something Scorpius had thought he'd ever say. Of course, he did need help in herbology and if Lucy liked reading, maybe she could be his tutor. Maybe he'd even help her with potions. Of course, that was a big maybe. Someone from her family would probably steer her away from him faster than a mother herding her child away from a stranger.

She looked at him for a moment before giving him a small smile."Thanks, can I trust you not to tell anyone?" she asked him."Its just I havent exactly told my family, and I think my Dad wants me to do something in the Ministry, like him." she said with a sigh. She did not know if she could trust him, but she hoped he would keep her secret. She did not want to disappoint her father, but she knew that working in the ministry was not for her. And besides, she loved potions.
She looked at him curiously when he asked if she wanted to sit with him."Uh sure." she said with a smile."I was actually going to sit down when I not so gracefully bumped into you." she said with a small laugh. She found it odd that Scorpius Malfoy asked her to sit with him, but hey it couldnt hurt anything right? She smiled and followed him to his table."So uhm, can I have my book back?" she asked him with a small laugh."Its just I was planning on reading about some medicinal potions. My family kind of has a knack for getting hurt, and well it doesnt hurt to have too many potions for illness and cuts and scarapes." she said with another small laugh.
