What if there was no lie Nothing wrong, nothing right What if there was no time And no reason, or rhympe What if you should decided That you don't want me there by your side That you don't want me there in your life
- - - - - - Everyone was heading back to their common rooms after dinner. Lily broke away from the pack of students heading to the Gryffindor Tower. She skirted off toward the girls lavatory, pretending to go in that direction. Glancing back, no one seemed to notice her detachment, and she veered off toward the Astronomy Tower. This action wasn't past hours just yet but, it would be soon. Lily didn't really care. After getting in trouble deal with the duel she was in with Chasity, getting another detention seemed like nothing. Lily needed to get away from the chattering common room, and her current boyfriend. She needed to just be entirely alone to think about a few choices she made and had to make. After climbing to the top of the tower, Lily leaned against a window and looked out across the grounds. The sun and just set but, there was still a tint of light blue to the sky. The moon hung low, in it's yellow cresant shape. Stars started to shine out in the twilight.
First, Lily thought through the duel for the hundred millionth time. It was had been and really, really stupid thing. If she woudn't have verbally attacked Chasity with such ridiculous accusations, she woudln't have spent days in the hospital wing. She woudn't have a stupid scar across her side to constantly remind her just how stupid she had been. Lily wished she could take it all back, to fix it.That was impossible though. Lily had dealt with the consequences.
Due to these consequences, not to mention the need to catch up on school work. Lily had been spending less and less time with her current boyfriend, Tormund Wood. Lily sighed at this. Guilt was starting to eat her alive. Sure, she liked him but, her heart was somewhere else all the time. As much as she tried to take it back, it failed every time. This was her main reason she needed to be alone. She couldn't think about Scorpius Malfoy while in the arms of Tormund. The guilt felt worse then compared to when she was just alone.
The guilt mainly circled around the fact that Lily was sort of just using Tor. The guilt was eating her alive. At the same time, she really did like him a lot. The conflict was just....well, Lily's original idea was to find someone to date, and gage Malfoy's reaction. Lils was just too scared to actually go up and talk to him about it even though she knew he was much different the he was perceived to be. She was afraid of being rejected by the one that unknowingly held her heart. It was torture. She thought if she was with someone, it wouldn't be so bad if it turns out Malfoy hates her. Due to recent events, Lily just hadn't had time to be around Scorpius while with Tormund to see his reaction. Lily knew sooner or later all this was going to come up. Tormund would find out, and it would most likely break his heart. She hadn't really thought this one through, until it was too late, like always. "You are such an idiot Lily," she mumbled to herself.

Striding down the halls, Scorpius broke away from the rest of the Slytherins. Most of them didn't notice, and the ones who did cared little that they'd lost Malfoy. He aimlessly wandered the halls, passing his own common room by. Heading up the stairs, he went on for no reason. Maybe it was the thoughts swimming in his mind, blocking everything out, or maybe it was something else entirely, but he ended up by in the Astronomy tower, or more correctly, by the Gryffindor's portrait of the Fat Lady. Of course, he wasn't allowed in there, and that woman didn't have many nice things to say, or rather, yell at him, so instead of stand there and listen to her jeers and warnings that he ought to be in his dormitory, Scorpius continued on up the winding stairs of the tower.
He wondered why he didn't just turn around and leave, but this seemed to be the right direction to walk. After a long while, when he was almost to the top, a figure faded into view. It was a girl with soft red hair, peering out the window as if something outside held great interest. The closer he got, the more apparent it became that this was not the case. The girl was Lily Potter, and she was dazed, most likely thinking about something important, or perhaps just trying, than appreciating the beauty of Hogwarts at night. It didn't surprise him that he'd find her up here. No, he was more shocked to see that he didn't Tormund wasn't by her side.
While he didn't usually keep track of who as dating whom, the fact that Lily liked Tormund was painfully obvious. He had nothing against the Wood boy, except that he'd taken Lily's heart. Perhaps it was a good thing, though. After all, Scorpius had really even considered his feelings toward Lily. If anything, he would have only considered them new friends. Now, though, things were starting to change, at least the way he saw people was. However, as always, he was completely in control of his emotions. Calm, he wouldn't ever even think about once about letting , Lily or Tormund know his plight, better known by others as a crush.
Finally at the top of the stairs, Scorpius stopped, pondering over whether he should leave her to be alone, but it wasn't much of a choice. Very quickly, he decided he'd rather stay. Running a hand through his disarray of blond hair, he took a few more steps toward Lily. However, he stopped there, not wanting to surprise her too much. He wouldn't want someone to barge in on his thoughts, and she probably wouldn't either, especially not if it was him.
"You are such an idiot Lily," A wisp of a smile rose on Malfoy's pale features. "Don't you think that's a bit harsh?"He tucked a hand in his pocket and nonchalantly added, "Sorry to interrupt whatever you were doing." He pointedly glanced back down the stairs, then turned back to Lily. "I could always leave, if you'd like."

Lily was gaining frustration with herself. She was beginning to wonder where all her crazy ideas come from. She could probably win a prize for coming up with the worst ideas for the year. So far, she had two. One, her little dueling spat with Chasity - that included two other stupid ideas. Two, dating a boy just to see if another boy liked her. The last one topped the cake. Sooner or later it would come out. Lily had been warned against it, and yet she chose to ignore those warnings.
"Don't you think that's a bit harsh?"
The voice of someone ripped Lily out of her thoughts. She jumped, startled by the interruption. Once her brain processed the words and the voice of who spoke them, she whipped around, staring into the eyes of Socrpius Malfoy. The boy who had started half of Lily's troubles. Her heart leaped. Immediately, at his mention of leaving Lily shook her head. "No, stay," she said, feeling her cheeks grow red. She glanced at the stairs, Malfoy was here alone. That had to be a good sign. Lily wished the stairs would just disappear, leaving them stuck here - together. Silently, Lils reminded herself not to get so hopeful and carried away.
"I wasn't being harsh. It's true,"
she said, moving her eyes away from the stairs and back to Scorpius face. She drank in his pale features, the blond locks of hair, to the faint, small smile on his face. "Didn't you hear? I was nearly killed, and it was my own stupid fault," she added after a few beats of silence. Oh yes, word had rather quickly gotten around about Lily's near death experience. For almost a week after the incident students kept glancing at her, whispering in the halls or library. Lily thought it might have been worse for Chasity.
