I'm on fire And the day is feeling hopeless You'd see me burning but the burning's turning smokeless Soon I won't feel at all No
It's electric the neon hurt inside your phone call The layered sadness and the madness it revolves Bringing down the walls where you found her No
It was a regular day, James was meandering through the halls. He was on a quick round of prefect duty after lunch. His rucksack full of school books was slung easily over his shoulders. A small smile played on his lips as he glanced out the windows, daydreaming of Penny of course. There wasn't much happening in the corridors that needed any prefect's attention, luckily for James. He was free to let his mind wander as he pleased.
Then suddenly there was a ruckus down the hall. James popped up on his tip toes to see, then increased his walking. He saw someone pushing passed a bunch of helpless first years. They were heading straight for him. As the figure got closer he noticed the blond hair, Slytherin robes, piercing blue eyes... Chasity. But there was something different about her gaze. Something crazed, disoriented, scared... James hurried towards her.
"Chasity, what's-" James began but the stopped short. Chasity was covered in something red. It looked like blood. There were tears streaming out of her eyes. He took a quick glance around; all of the other students were staring at the two of them. "What happened," he demanded. His hands landed on her upper arms, trying to hold her still. "Chas, tell me." His voice was shaky now. If that was blood on her robes, this couldn't be good.

They were still staring at her, all of them, she could tell, but she rushed past everyone in such a rush that it didn't matter. The whispers were ripping into her brain, and she kept seeing Lily... Chasity shook her head and pushed another first year out of the way. Hey, watch it! coming from every direction, it didn't matter. The tears wouldn't stop. She knew that Lily would fine in the nurse's hands, but she couldn't shake the image of the girl laying on the stone floor asking her to help her. She closed her eyes and saw the blood, and when she opened them she saw something worse. James was coming toward her. He looked so worried! Oh god, James! she wailed hysterically, throwing her sobbing self into his arms. I'm so sorry, James! I'm... soooo... sor-rry! She couldn't get a grip on herself, and the panic threatened to overwhelm her completely. She let go of him and held up her blood-stained hands, then let out a strangled scream. No, no, no! Her voice was breaking through the sobs. I can't... I... James, you have to come with me. No, I can't go! I can't see... Oh, god! It's my fault, James, I was so angry! Her words were coming out confusedly and mixed up, but she couldn't breathe anymore, couldn't think. Her eyes were wide and crazy, her face red from the hysteria. She gulped a deep breath and covered her face with her hands. James, it's Lily, she said, sobbing softly. You have to go to the Hospital wing! She couldn't tell him what she had done, and didn't think she could handle seeing Lily again, but at the same time she couldn't just let him walk in there blindly. He was probably panicking now, from her hysterics and from hearing where Lily was. James! I... I... I hurt her, James. I hurt her really bad! I'm so sorry... Please... She took his arm and turned back the way she had come from. Maybe Lily was awake now. Chasity had to beg her to forgive her. She had to do something to fix this horrible deed. The blood! It won't stop! What have I done?

Well, I'm willing to break myself To shake this hell from everything I touch I'm willing to bleed for days my... reds and grays So you don't hurt so much
It was like all time stopped at Chasity broke down in his arms. What in the world could have happened to make her so upset? he thought. James was about to go into his big brother mode with her, when she started stuttering pieces of sentences. He could barely comprehend her thorough her sobs.
"Calm down, Chasity, everything will be alright-"
"James, it's Lily,"
Everything stopped. Everything got quiet. Time was frozen. James felt his reality dripping away in slow motion around him. His vision tunneled as his heart rate quickened. Lily. What about Lily? James' barely functioning eyes racked down to Chasity's robes. That was blood alright. Lily's blood. His nerves were on fire, burning inside him. He couldn't think. He couldn't breath. His baby sister was bleeding, somewhere.
"You have to go to the Hospital wing!"
His large eyes looked dumbstruck down into hers. Hospital wing. Right. Where was it? How did he get there? He thought it was close by... James swallowed and tried to speak, yet nothing came out.
"James! I... I... I hurt her, James. I hurt her really bad! I'm so sorry... Please... "
It was her? Chasity did it? Did what? His heart was pounding. There was no time to be angry. He needed to be by Lily's side. Chasity tried to grab his arm, but instead he shoved her out of the way as he took off running down the hall. Almost all he first years parted as they saw him barreling towards them. He hollered at a few who were too frozen to move.
There was a crowd around a bed in the back corner of the hospital wing; professors, the nurse, the nurse's aid, and a curious ghost. James dropped his bag in the middle of the floor as he continued to run towards the far end of the wing.
"Lily!" he croaked, shoving his way in-between the adults who froze upon his arrival. He gasped at the sight. Blood everywhere. Large slash wounds in her abdomen. Her face was pale and she was unconscious. "Oh, Lily. Lily," he whimpered as he knelt at her side. "Don't just stand there! Do something, hurry!" he yelled at the nurse who looked at him dumbfounded. She instantly picked back up on her frantic mending of Lily's gashes. "Lily, please," he whispered, the stinging of fresh tears in his eyes. James grasped her hand in his, it felt cold and clammy. His heart raced even faster. What if it was too late? It can't be. Not his baby sister.

Chasity wasn't stunned when James shook her off him and took off running. The only question was, what would she do now. She could run back to the dungeon, past the blood and the memory, to hide in her bed waiting to wake up from this nightmare. Or she could follow her friend to his sister's bedside and try to... try to what? Apologize? Explain? Blame Lily? Lily had started it, but Chasity had used more than necessary force. She was good at what she did, she hadn't needed to maim her! Still, she had an excuse to hide behind, or she could do the right think and own up to it, probably losing her only friend in the process. Besides that, how could she look Lily in the eyes ever again. What if the nurses here couldn't fix her? She shuddered the thought away as she made up her mind. She stood for a moment, then followed through the still-cleared path of confused and worried students back to the hospital.
The room was quiet when she walked back in, still freaking out, but less audibly now. James was kneeling on the floor next to his sister. What can I say? She's still unconscious, what if they couldn't fix her! She couldn't tell if she was breathing or not, and it terrified her. But surely if something had gone terribly wrong, they would have taken her to St. Mungos.
The nurse turned to her then, hardly pausing in her work. I need to know what happened. What caused this? Her usually kind eyes were hard and accusing, or maybe it was Chasity's imagination. Sectumsempra, she whispered in a horrified voice. But... I used Maxmos. I tried- her voice cracked as the tears that had finally stopped rushed back. I tried to- to heal them, but I'm not very good at healing magic. I only- I only fixed the minor wounds. Her eyes tore back to James and Lily, and she forced herself to approach. She stood some distance back from James and tried not to look at him. She could hear his voice in her head, screaming at her, telling her to die, seeing Lily's blood covering her hands. She gasped, and dropped to the floor. Is she... is she going to be okay? The words were barely audible through the sobbing cries. James, I'm so sorry. That's not enough, I know, but I didn't mean to do this to her. I just wanted her to shut up! I'm sorry! Lily, I'm so sorry!
She had never felt guilt, or pain on someone else's behalf, or half of the emotions she was currently experiencing, and she hated it. She couldn't function. She only knew that if she could go back and redo that whole period of time, she would have told Lily that she didn't have anything to worry about with James, and that she would just leave them all alone. She would have walked away. But it was too late now, and Lily was laying unconscious on a hospital bed because of Chasity's unjustified anger. I hate myself... It should be me laying there, not her. She was just worried about you, James. I tried to tell her that I would never hurt you, but look what I've done... Her soft words cut through the silent room. Though she had only whispered, she knew he heard. What she didn't know was if he cared. You have every reason to hate me, and I wouldn't blame you if you never wanted to see me again. The hurt showed through her eyes, but she stood up and touched Lily's hand. I'm sorry, she repeated.

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life
Crumbling. James Potter was crumbling. He couldn't live without his his sister, his baby sister Lily. He held her hand against his face, his eyes stinging. One tear managed to escape and trail down his cheek. He could taste the bitterness as it reached his mouth. His breathing was heavier now. It was taking so long for the nurse to make any progress it seemed...
"I need to know what happened. What caused this?" he heard the nurse ask. Someone else must have arrived. James' blurry gaze shifted up and saw Chasity walking in. He couldn't focus. He was too worried about Lily to even think about Chasity and the fact that she did this to his sister. He felt a pang in his gut, and he bit down on his lip to try and stop himself from losing it right there. He had to be strong.
James barely heard what she said about what happened. He didn't care what happened. He needed to know if Lily was going to be okay. Then Chasity was by his side. James didn't look at her a first. He couldn't. His eyes were focused on the floor as he held Lily's hand against his face again. With a deep breath he turned to look at Chasity, his face etched with pain, worry, and confusion. It was as if his eyes were simply asking 'why' like when a child's pet dies and they don't even understand why death happens. James couldn't understand why a person like Chasity would do such a thing. He had to look away from her as bitter thoughts ran through his mind. Maybe it was an act to get to Lily. He didn't know. Chasity was a Slytherin after all.
By this time, all of the holding of Lily's bloody hand got a small bit of blood smeared on James' face and his own hands. It killed him to look down at his red stained palms. His little sister was not supposed to be bleeding. She wasn't supposed to be in pain.
James couldn't listen to Chasity anymore. He was tired and emotionally drained. His heart was still going a mile a minute and it was hard for him to focus on things. Here Chasity was sobbing about this and that. Lily was what mattered. Lily could die. He shivered. She wouldn't. She couldn't. He needed his sister. She was his light in everything. She was always there for him. James needed to just be alone with his sister. He wanted the nurses, Chasity, the small crowd that was forming... everyone... to leave. He just wanted to crawl into the hospital bed with Lily and hold her still, rock her to sleep. A couple more tears dropped from his eyes, and he sniffled loudly. "Lily, lily..." he repeated, pressing her clammy hand to his face again.

While it was chaotic around her, Lily was peacefully unconscious. Her skin color had gone pale, almost ashen, cold, and clammy due to the loss of blood. Her breathing was shallow. She was dreaming, or maybe she was dead - Lily didn't know but, she liked the place she was looking at. Lily was home, well it looked like home. There were these people staring at her - Lily wasn't sure who they were. Something told her they were all close. She could feel someone standing behind her, their hand was on her shoulder. Lily couldn't see who it was but, these people were staring at that person. The three males all had a scowl on their faces, all looking like they may want to explode.
Ow, she thought, feeling a few pokes and prods here and there. The nurse whom was working on Lily was slowly closing up the deep lashes stretching from her side to her abdomen. She faintly heard a name, Lily but, she didn't know who that was. Was that her name? Who was calling it? She thought she heard two different voices calling that same name but, she couldn't be sure. So, Lily was her name - that sounded like it should be familiar. As Lily laid perfectly still, half-concious but barely, she tried to sort through how she got here.
There were very few things she could remember. One, being in some damp, chilly place with stone walls and steps. Two, the blond haired girl, a flash of light, and then she was on the ground and didn't know what was happening, or what was going on. All she knew is that she was badly injured by that blond girl, whom she asked for help. The girl had a horrified expression and after that, things got all fuzzy. It was slightly annoying. She couldn't understand why she didn't remember much, why she felt so confused.
For a sixth year, Chasity casted a powerful combination spell at Lily. The addition of maxmos - it doubled the effect of Sectumsempra. The first spell that hit Lily was confundo but, it was immediately suceeded with the sectumsempra maxmos. Somewhere along the way, the maxmos applied to sectumsempra also took a doubling effect to the confundo - leaving Lily not just confused but, suffering from amnesia.
The amnesia wouldn't last much longer. As Lily slipped in and out of conciousness, she started remembering every thing between major life events and today. There was a constant pain that seemed to radiated through her entire body. Her head hurt from so much thinking, the lower half of her body felt like fire and at the same time she felt extremely cold. Coming back into conciousness, Lily felt something warm holding her hand. No, make that two, one on each hand. There were two different people holding each of her hands. One person had her hand pushes against his or her face. This person was crying, she could feel the tears rolling under her cold fingers. She had no idea who this person was just yet. It would be a lot easier to think if there wasn't the constant feeling she was being put back together with tape or something.
The pain of her injuries hadn't quite reached Lily's head yet. Now that they did, she wanted to scream but, she couldn't. She could feel herself trying but, she didn't have the strength to move a muscle. It hurt to breath, the scortching pain took the breath out of her lungs. What were they doing to her? Lily fought through it, feeling pain was a good thing. It had to be a good thing. You don't feel things when your dead. Lily realized she wasn't dead. She was still alive. It was like someone somewhere had turned on this light switch. She remembered everything now. That blond girl, that was Chasity. A girl she hated because....she was a Slyertherin and getting all buddy-buddy with...James. And James is...is her brother. Was that who was holding her hand and crying? As Lily battled through the pain, still slipping in and out of concious now and again, the nurse tediously kept patching her up. It took the nurse a little over and hour to have her injuries fixed. Even then, Lily was completely healed. The rest was being left to the human body and it's abilities to repair itself. Lily felt a sharp poke in her arm, bringing her back to the current time. She felt a little warmer than before, and a somewhat scratchy blanket now covered her. The nurse explained to James and Chasity that she did what she could. Now, the rest would just take time. Lily would have to stay in the hospital wing a couple of days and that she needed to report this to the Headmaster, and Lily's parents being such a serious injury.
Lily only heard part of what the nurse said. The searing pain was gone. She didn't feel so cold now, little by little she was getting warmer. Lils could tell there were still people by her. She wanted to open her eyes and see them but, all she seemed to want to do is sleep. No, she couldn't. She had to tell those were crying that she was okay. The nurse did her job, Lily was still alive. She wouldn't leave without a fight. She had to tell them, even if she had to struggle just to open her eye lids.
Slowly, very slowly, Lily opened her eyes. There was a bright light shining at her but, that was quickly removed. Another blanket was thrown ontop of the scratchy one, warming her up more. She said something but, it was an inaudible whisper. She couldn't even hear it herself.

It seemed like ages, decades, centuries, for the nurse to step away from Lily. James, who had been staring down for most of the time finally looked up. His eyes were bloodshot red and the skin on his face was blotchy. He was spent. This whole ordeal was so nerve wracking. But the nurse seemed satisfied with her work. She said that was all she could do for now. And the Lily needed a couple days rest.
His heart slammed in his chest as he finally stood up to take in the full sight of Lily. The blood had been magicked away, so now it was just crisp clean linens that surrounded Lily... along with a few bandages. He traced his hand along her forehead, brushing some of her trademark red locks from her face before giving her a light kiss at her hairline. At least now his baby sister was in good hands in the hospital wing and she was all closed up.
James sat down on the bed next to her, taking one of her now warming hands in both of his. "Lils, I wish you'd wake. But I know you need your rest..." he whispered straining. "I just need to know how you feel... if you're alright... if you hurt... if I can get you anything..."
Then Lily started to move. James' eyes darted all over her face, waiting to see if she would wake up. Lily mumbled something incoherent as her eyes fluttered and squinted open. "Lily?" he asked hopefully. "Lils?"

Chasity had stood silent the whole time, still holding Lily's hand. She wasn't sure why, but it felt right. Lily was being so still, and James was completely ignoring her. It hurt her, but she understood why it had to be this way. She'd messed up horribly, and he would very likely never forgive her. Lily would never forgive her either, so she wasn't really sure why she was still here, but she just couldn't leave.
Finally, Lily began to move, trying to speak. Chasity sighed softly in relief. She heard James speaking Lily's name, and looked up at him. James, she whispered, she's coming out of it! She looked down at Lily, nothing but sheer concern showing in her eyes. She would wait before begging her for forgiveness, but she planned on doing it soon, before they kicked her out. Her stomach was churning from the anxiety of the whole situation, but she doing her best to keep calm.
She waited a few moments, then finally spoke softly to Lily. Lily? Can you hear me? It's Chasity. A hot tear spilled down her cheek, but she continued, Lily, I'm so sorry. It was so stupid. Please forgive me? The pleading question nearly broke her resolve, and looked up at James, pleading. Please forgive me... She knew that it would never be okay again, but if they didn't both forgive her for this, she would lose it. And if they did, she would never do anything like this again. She would be unfailing nice to Lily no matter what the other girl said or did to her, and she would stay out of James' life completely, if that's what it took to make this better.

It was amazing how fast news traveled in the Magical world. Especially if that news was coming from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But as Head Auror, Harry was used to getting information before anyone, even the Prophet. So when a report came from the school, he hadn’t really thought about it.
“Mr. Potter. You have an urgent message from Hogwarts.” Harry looked up to see one of the young interns who were hoping to make it big in the Ministry. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “An urgent message from Hogwarts? It’s not just a daily report?” he asked her. Harry had always done everything in his power to make sure the school was well protected. And when he became a father, he requested that the Headmaster give a daily report on any happenings within the wall, time permitting. After all, the students within the walls were the future, and he as part of the older generation had to do everything within his power to protect them.
“Um no sir. This is actually for you Personally. Another notice has been sent to your wife as well.” She said, unsure if it was actually wise to have volunteered to deliver the message. She had been eager (as many of the interns were) to get a glimpse of Harry.
Harry paled at her words. A personal message… and one had been sent to his house for Ginny. He felt his heart squeeze in his chest as he got up and took the message, ripping it open and quickly scanning the parchment, his green optics flashing back and forth. “If anyone wants to reach me, they need only to send an Owl to Hogwarts.” He said, quickly leaving his office.
He made his way to the designated Apparition sites and Apparated to Hogsmeade. He moved, quickly closing the gap between him and the castle. Once there, he quickly made his way to the Hospital Wing. He opened the door, his face still pale as his eyes scanned the hospital wing. He then noticed the back of James’ head in the back. Another person was standing next to the bed. And on that bed, was his little girl. He made his way over to them, licking his lips slightly.
He moved to stand behind his son, staring down at his Daughter. It appeared she was starting to come around now. “What happened?” he asked, placing one hand on his Eldest son’s shoulder and running the thumb of his other hand over his daughter’s cheek. He could tell that the Healers had just gotten done fixing her up. She was to pale for his liking, and her skin was still warming up. His green eyes flashed from Lily’s face, to James, to the other girl; a Slytherin.
Slowly, his mind began to form a hypothesis. The Slytherin was cover in blood, and Harry was willing to bet everything he owned that it was Lily’s. But what could have caused that much damage? He remembered back to his Sixth year at Hogwarts. Dueling Malfoy in the Bathroom. Using the Sectumsempra spell. Was that was happened here? But, how did she find out about the spell?

Those voices were calling her name again. Lily was pretty sure she remembered everything that had happened up until the fuzzy parts. Chasity? Lily thought, fighting the darkness that was pulling her back. She...she did this to me. That little bitch! I should...do nothing. I provoked her...no, she shouldn't have...what was that spell? She waited, struggling to open her eyes. Lils tried to figure out why the heck Chasity cared so much all of a sudden. It must have been just becasue of James. Yup, that was it - James. Good. Maybe he will hate her for hurting Lily so badly. Ow, she felt a sharp pain in her side. It subsided as quickly as it came - tissues just repairing themselves.
A third voice entered in. It was deeper, and with a concerned and scared tone. Lily felt a warm hand touch her cheek. Daddy... she thought. It was time to wake up, even if it was for only a few minutes. Lily had to tell them she was fine. Even if that was the only word she could get out, she had to say it. She took a few more moments to muster up all the strength her weak body had to open her eyes. Opening them, Lily blinked rapidly a few times, her eyes took a little longer to adjust to the lightening than she thought. Immediaely Lily looked for the person attached to the most familiar hand - James. "James," she mumbled out. Lily wasn't sure if he would hear her.
Looking at James, Lily's heart broke. His eyes had a sad, scared look. She'd never seen him cry before. Tears rolled down his cheeks. It was her fault her brother was like this. Why had she gotten such a ridiculous idea? This wasn't Chasity's fault, it was Lily's for provoking it. She could have just let Chasity alone but, there was this overwhelming distrust toward her that Lily couldn't. Lily realized that she should have just let it be, ignored the Slytherin girl as much as possible. Then, James wouldn't be in his current state. Lily felt like a horrible sister for doing that to him.
Lily forced her eyes to look up, a hand was touching James' shoulder. Her eyes wandered up and met her fathers face. How long had she been out? How much time had past? Lily wondered, was it days or hours since her brief glimpse at death. She didn't even know if she came close to death. That must be why James looked like he did. It was bad, really bad. Lily's eyes darted back to James. Tears stung her eyes now, remembering her earlier idea in the dungeons during the duel. She wanted to apologize to him, she must have let him down. Chasity probably told him some story about Lily attacking her or something.
It dawned on Lily that Chasity was there too, on the other side of her. She didn't have the energy or strength to move her head again. Lily kept her eyes on James, her vision of him blurred with tears. She could feel them begin to trickle down her cheek, they were warm to her skin. words-> 560 tags-> Chasity, James, Harry - whomever wants to go next! lyrics-> -- outfit:-> -- comments->

James squeezed onto Lily's hand as he waited for her to come to. He needed to know she was okay, any sign of reassurance. He was still crouching down next to the bed, but now he held himself up higher in anticipation. Each shallow breath Lily took drew him in closer. Chasity also was waiting anxiously beside him, which James didn't understand. She purposely did this to Lily, why should she care about the outcome? Maybe it was just a bizarre accident. But James wasn't sure how shouting a spell could be an accident... Maybe she didn't know what the spell did? Hell, James barely recognized it. Sectumsempra... It reminded him of his father for some reason. Was he told about that spell before? He battled his own thoughts until he heard Chasity speak... James looked over to her and sighed heavily.
"I don't know Chasity... you hurt the closest thing to me... I don't understand..." he stumbled. James couldn't hate her. He couldn't. But look what she had done to Lily. His poor defenseless baby sister... Okay maybe not so much defenseless. James frowned. He also didn't know the whole story. Lily was sometimes an instigator. But Lily wouldn't deliberately start something with a Slytherin, would she? "Chas, I... I need to hear everything before..." he paused, thinking. "I can't hate you. But... how am I supposed to know I can trust you now?" The realization of those words stung. He had grown close to the blond and now everything was a mess. He felt like he couldn't trust her. If she hurt Lily, what if she hurt someone else? Like Penny? James tried not to be so biased, but it was hard when his dad was a headstrong snake hater.
There was the sound of hurried footsteps and a swinging door. Lucky for James it was a distraction, because he didn't know what else to say to Chasity just yet. He turned his head to look, still holding onto Lily's hand, and saw his dad hurrying into the room who was by his side instantly. He felt the comfort of his dad's hand on his shoulder.
His dad asked what happened. James really didn't know all of it. "Lily's been... hurt..." he said glancing back to Chasity uneasily. James knew that once Harry found out it was she who harmed Lily, she'd be in for it. At least that was James' worst fear. He didn't want to be the one to tell him, so he gave a weary looking stare at Chasity. "There was a duel..."
James gulped, wondering what Chasity would say. He didn't even know the details. As he waited impatiently, he started to feel Lily move around. His eyes darted back to her face, her own eyes squinting and flickering beneath the lids. Eventually her eyes opened slightly and she mumbled his name.
"Lily!" he choked, trying to fight away his tears. It was bad enough he all ready cried, but he couldn't cry in front of his dad... James stood up now, hoovering over Lily. He watched her face intently, waiting for her to say something else... to give any hint of what had happened. At least, from her point of view.

Chasity swallowed, hard, before answering James. I didn't do this to hurt you. I just... It was hard to tell him what happened. It was even harder because she hadn't started it. Taking the blame would make him hate her, and it was a lie; Lily had attacked first. Blaming Lily, though it was Lily that had stalked and attacked her, would hurt him. There was no win. But there was always honesty. The nurse had probably notified Lily's parents, and it wouldn't be long before they arrived, so she didn't have much time to make up her mind. She looked down at Lily, then back at James. We had an argument. It just got out of control. She lowered her gaze and added, She accused me of trying to steal you from Penny. That was never my intention, I promise you. I told her the same thing, but she couldn't believe me. I don't blame her, really, no one has ever trusted me. I shouldn't have... I should have just turned around and gone back inside. You don't have to trust me, and you don't have to believe me, but I promise, I didn't do this to hurt you. I wish I could take it back. If you want me to leave... If you never want to see me again, I'll understand. I just want to make sure that Lily's going to be okay then I'll go, okay? She wiped away the single tear that had made its way down her cheek. Lily could give him the details when she was conscious, she couldn't.
When Harry Potter arrived, it filled Chasity with dread. This was not only an upset father of a girl that she had just put in the hospital, but he was also the Harry Potter. And he was James' dad. It was all very intimidating. The whole situation was bad, but as he looked over her bloody clothes, she felt that he knew she had done this. She swallowed and looked down, wishing she could sink into the floor.
Finally, Lily spoke. It was only a mumble, really, when she said her brother's name, but it was audible. Then she began to wake up more, it wouldn't be long before she was healed enough to sit up and talk. Chasity smiled a little through her pain, happier than she could explain that the other girl was okay. She looked at James and her smile faded a little. She's okay now. Do you want me to leave? Lily would probably be angry at her being here, but she wouldn't leave unless James wanted her to. And it would kill her if he did...

Harry took his gaze off the Slytherin girl. He knew his presence was intimidating to her. Harry sometimes had the feeling that it also intimidated his own kids; something that haunted him dearly. Lily was coming around more now. It appeared that she was fighting to regain consciousness. And it wasn’t even a surprise what was the first name out of her mouth. He smiled lightly as he watched his daughters eyes seek out her brother. Lily and James had always been close, and Harry was happy. However, it also brought to his attention how left out Albus was.
When he had asked what had happened, he instantly saw his son’s gaze go to the Slytherin. He looked at her again, his thoughts confirmed. So she had been the one to put his daughter in the Hospital wing. And well, although James’ answer had been vague, it only confirmed his thoughts. He fought the urge to roll his eyes at his son. That much was obvious. He smiled down at his daughter, giving her a small little grin.
When his son stood up, Harry knew he was trying to hide his tears from him. So he decided he’d give his son that chance. He turned to the Slytherin Girl instead. “May I speak with you over there?” he asked, nodding his head over to the other side of the room. He then thought about how scared the girl might have been. His fame made him seem, to most, like an untouchable figure. Harry hated it; he didn’t set himself above anyone.
“I just want to ask you a question about the… spell, you used on Lily. I’m not going to yell at you.” He said, trying to reassure her. Harry was trying to put aside his fear and worry for his daughter while talking to her. He knew for a fact that this girl could have killed her. He easily remembered when he himself had used the curse. He hadn’t been sure what it did, but he had used it on Draco Malfoy, just as the other was attempting to use the Cruciatus Curse on. He had remembered the blood spurting from a deep wound on the others face and chest and for a horrible moment, Harry had feared he’d killed him.
He walked over towards the bed opposite Lily. He glanced as his children before turning to the other girl. “I need to know where you learned about that Curse.” He said. His voice wasn’t demanding or authoritive. It was polite and curious, something he had learned from Albus Dumbledore. It was so much easier to get information when one wasn’t yelling or raging at the other. And the last time Harry had checked, only he and Severus Snape had known about the Curse. After all, Snape had created it, and Harry had only stumbled across it in Snape’s old Potions book. Harry first thought that maybe she got it out of the book, but the book had been destroyed in what would have been his seventh year at Hogwarts by Crabbe’s Fiendfyre.

Harry Potter looked at her, and she unconsciously flinched back. Though he assured her that he meant her no harm, Chasity was wary. She slowly followed him across the room, and looked at her feet. I need to know where you learned about that curse, was all he said. So, he deduced it was me... She wasn't shocked, but tears welled up in her eyes anyway. Obviously he wouldn't hurt her, she was a student, but there was more that he could do to her. She had to be honest, but the source of the spell implicated her father. She thought about it for a moment before deciding that it wouldn't matter anyway; her father couldn't hate her any more than already did. Um, well, I overheard someone mention it one time, as a powerful offensive spell. It my father, Royce Atherton, and one of his friends. I'm not sure, but I believe it was Mr. Malfoy. I've never seen it in a book anywhere, I didn't know what it would do exactly. Mr. Potter, I'm so sorry. If I had known... I didn't mean to hurt her so badly! She was terrified. The thought had crossed her mind that Harry Potter could easily have her expelled, or worse. Her wand would be destroyed, and she would be powerless to defend herself against this man's word. She'd had few run-ins with the headmaster, but knew that dueling was frowned upon even if you didn't severely injure anyone. I understand you must be furious, but I'm really sorry. You can't understand how much I wish I could undo this. I know I have no right, but I beg your forgiveness. Her tone was fearful, but sincere, and she only hoped that he could understand that she hadn't been trying to kill Lily. If it's possible, I would like to talk to Lily alone, later. When she's better, and if she's willing. She looked over at the girl lying in the bed, and then at James sitting next to her. She could see by his eyes that he was devastated. She could only hope for understanding and forgiveness, but nothing in her experience in that area gave her much reassurance.

Harry had seen the flinch. He wanted to frown at her actions, but he kept his face neutral. There was no reason to scare her any more than she already was. He watched as the tears welled up in her eyes at his statement. Did she really think he was going to harm her? Well, it didn’t surprise him. All of the Slytherin’s hated him. And he could see the Slytherin’s telling their children how bad he was. He listened patiently as she explained where she had over heard it from.
He paled slightly whenever she said that it had been Malfoy had been discussing the curse with her father. “Well, Draco would know about it…” he muttered, feeling disgusted. Had the two adults spoken about it, knowing that she was there? It wouldn’t surprise him. That was the type of thing he could see them doing.
He looked back at her when she pleaded with him to forgive her. He smiled lightly at her. “I know exactly how you feel. But a word of the wise… You might not what to try every spell you see or read. Malfoy wouldn’t even have known about the curse if it weren’t for me, so really all I have to blame is myself.” He said. He looked back at his daughter, and again he was visited with a scene of the bathroom after his duel with Draco. There had been so much blood everywhere. He swallowed slightly as he looked at her. “Miss. Atherton, if you’re worried about doing anything… You don’t have to be. I under stand you two were dueling. That’s always the outcome. And I’ve no jurisdiction to do anything anyways. Whatever happens to you is the Headmasters Decision. But I’ll have a talk to him about the outcome before he makes his decisions. I have an opinion or two on the matter that he may want to here. I don’t hold you at fault.” He told her, putting a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.
He looked back at his children, his hand falling to his side. “That’s up for her to decide.” He stated.
