Lily squinted. An irritated look washed over her face. The same moment her eyes finished adjusting, they had to readjust as James decided to hover over her. Something wet fell and hit her cheek. "James," she said again, swallowing to get some moisture to her vocal cords. "Would you mind not crying on my face?" she finished. Lily made a bad attempt to lighten up the mood. She knew, she knew how serious this whole situation was. She had been three steps away from probable death. She pushed the limits. If it this was anyone's fault, it was hers.
She could hear the rumbling voice of Harry. Lils tried to sit up on her elbows. A sharp, stabbing pain told her sitting up was not going to happen anytime soon. She slunk back into the pillow, wincings. Lily wondered just how much trouble she was going to get into. She wondered what would Chasity tell? Chasity!] she remembered hearing her talk to her, touch her hand. Lily couldn't see the Slytherin speaking to Harry opposite her. Her eyes didn't quite reach that far. She sighed and closed her eyes for a few moments, trying to just remember how exactly she got here. It was all muddle together, she could only remember of few her thoughts, bits and pieces of the short lived duel. What was it that she said to make this happen? words-> 248 tags-> James - since Chasity & Harry are off on their own. Before James could even answer Chasity, his dad stepped in and asked to speak with her. He gave a fleeting glance at Chasity, almost like an apology, or even a warning. Harry scared the heck out of James as it is... He hoped his dad didn't scare her too much because he was rather intimidating. As the two walked off to speak privately, James turned his attention back to his sister.
"Lils?" he asked again, sounding a bit impatient now.
Finally she spoke to him, telling him to stop crying on her. James, embarrassed, straightened his back and removed his glasses. He managed to smudge most of the tears away from his eyes, then put his glasses back on with a weak chuckle.
"Sorry Lily," James said, cheeks ablaze. He knew he would hear it from her later, making fun of him for crying. "I was just really worried... as you can tell." His voice got softer. "It was really bad," he added, holding out his arms to display his blood stained sleeve cuffs. "I thought... I thought..." he choked. Do NOT cry again James. Don't even think about it. James thought. "I'm just glad you're okay now."

Lily gave James a weak smile as he apologized. She was glad he was there. It made her feel better and worse at the same time. Better, because he was her brother. He should be there. But, she felt worse because this same idea came to mind much earlier. Lily wished she hadn't have thought of that. It was a horrible, horrible thing to think. Plus, it was horrible to accuse Chasity of something she wasn't even trying to do. Lily had just been pushing buttons, trying to break up a friendship. And for what? The idea that if Lily couldn't have Scorpius, James shouldn't be able to have a Slytherin friend. House rivarly. How stupid.
Her smile faded as James showed her his sleeves. The red cuffs stood out. Lily thought back to what she could remember. A flashed image of seeing red cover her hands came to mind. That was about it. Tears came to her eyes. This was all her fault. It was her fault James was crying because she nearly died. It's her fault her parents were each getting an owl, Ginny would be hysterical. "I - " she started, but didn't know what to say. "James, I - I'm sorry," she said. "It's my own stupid fault," she added, looking away. Once she told him what happened, Lily knew everyone would be disappointed in her. She couldn't stand to see that in James and espeically Harry's faces. words-> 286 tags-> James - since Chasity & Harry are off on their own. Just because I'm hurting Doesn't mean I'm hurt
James sighed as he sat on the edge of the hospital bed next to Lily. He gave his best effort to smile at her, trying to show her that he was okay now. Which wasn't entirely true. There were a million questions he wanted to ask, so many things he needed to know. There was a thin line for him to cross, whether to be mad at Chasity... or to not be. But he didn't even know the details of what happened, so how could he even think about making judgments. James could be a pretty reasonable person at times, even though most of the time his irrational Gryffindor side would come out. In situations like these though, James knew how to be an adult about the situation. Growing up as the eldest sibling, he had to be the mature one when no one else could or when no one else knew how. For some reason, James always knew what to do, even when he truly didn't.
She began to speak to him, and it tore him in two. She was crying, obviously conflicted and in pain. And now she blamed herself. But why? Was it really her fault, and not Chasity's? James stared at Lily concerned with a furrowed brow. He took one of her hands in his again and set it in his lap. "Its okay Lily. You're okay," he said behind a reassuring facade. He wasn't really sure what to think now that it may have been Lily who started it all. He wasn't mad at Lily. No, he couldn't be. But if she instigated this... And what about Chasity? James clenched his eyes closed, trying to come to some sort of answer and found none. "Do you think you could tell me what happened?" he asked cautiously. James had to know for his own sanity.

Lily tried moving again. She needed to physically see her father and Chasity. The sharp twinge of pain came again. Sitting up just clearly just not an option. Lily let out a fusterated sigh. She wonderd just how much trouble Chasity was going to get into. This would most likely be reported ot the Headmaster. Lily was expecting, that after she gave her side of the story, both her and Chasity would be stuck in detention. She hoped this wasn't enough to get one or both of them expelled. Feeling guilty that Chasity was possibly being grilled by Harry, Lily sighed and closed her eyes for a few moments.
Lily ignored James' question. She didn't was to see the disappointment that would be there. Plus, she didn't want to repeat this story a million times over. "Can you get Daddy?" Lily asked James. "He probably wants to know too," she mumbled. She wanted to use this little delay to got through everything in her head again, to make sure it made sense.
So, she was in the dungeons, basically stalking around for Chasity to start something with her. They confronted each other, Lily told Chasity to stay away from James, Chasity said no. Lily accused Chasity of trying to ruin James' happiness with Penny and - Lily sighed. It all boiled down to her. She was the one that went looking for trouble with Chasity. She was the one that more or less started the stupid duel - Chasity just had been then one to finish it, whether it was purposely or not. words-> 280 tags-> James, Chasity, & Harry. lyrics-> -- outfit:-> -- comments-> Yeah, I was working on rounding them up.

Anxious. The definition of James' life. But right now that was a complete understatement. This was the worst possible cliff hanger, waiting for Lily to answer his question of what happened. Unfortunately it was a big let down when she asked him to get their dad. James couldn't wait any longer, but she had a point. His dad would definitely want to know too. With another squeeze of Lily's hand, James stood up from the hospital bed which gave a loud creak. He walked ever so slowly over to the corner where his dad and Chasity were talking. The Slytherin looked pale as a ghost, obviously intimidated by his dad. James couldn't blame her. Surprisingly his dad looked calm, but he always did. James knew, or at least assumed, his dad hated people being afraid of him. So he tried his best to make them feel comfortable.
As he approached, James thought he overheard something about a Malfoy which sparked his anger again. He fought to suppress it. There was no reason to be angry right now. Malfoy wasn't even involved. Was he?
"Er..." James said awkwardly interrupting the conversation. He looked between Chasity and his dad, sighing. "Lily wants to talk to you Dad. She's going to tell us what happened..." James' view switched back over to Chasity, trying to see her reaction to see if it seemed like she might hide something.

Chasity had been doing her best to stay calm under the circumstances, but it didn't seem to be working. Through all Harry Potter's reassurances that he wasn't going to harm her, she was still shaky at best. She could see James and Lily every once in a while, when one of her nervous shifts moved them back into her line of sight. Lily was talking more now, and Chasity was horrified at the thought that she might be trying to turn James against her. Not like it would be hard at this point, he probably already did. Suddenly, she shifted back and glanced that direction and James was coming toward them. Her face froze in fear, as she held her breath waiting for him to speak. Err... Lily wants to talk to you, Dad. She's going to tell us what happened. Oh, that was simple enough, she decided, except that she had no idea of what to do. She could follow them across the room and risk looking like she was trying threaten Lily into incriminating herself, or she could stand here, far away from the story, and have to wonder with every glance at her what Lily was saying. If Lily told the truth, would anyone believe her, or would they just assume that Chasity had intimidated her. If she lied about the earlier events, how would Chasity ever convince them that it was a lie. Either way, she was sure that she was out of luck. Her stomach had been churning since the moment that Lily had fallen, but now she was almost positive she was going to vomit. Um, I'll be right back, she mumbled, heading swiftly for the bathroom toward the back of the hospital wing.
Once inside the room, she dropped to the ground in front of the toilet and heaved. This was very nearly the worst day of her entire existence. It ranked right up there with the time her parents forgot about her after her first year at Hogwarts, and she had sat at the train station for five hours before getting a ride with a old muggle woman. She continued throwing up for at least a solid five minutes before rinsing her face and mouth, and heading back out into the room. She stood near the wall closest to the bathroom door and waited, carefully watching the faces of the three Potters across the room.

Harry stared at Chasity. She was shaking. Whether or not it was because she was frightened of her actions or if because she was scared of him, he couldn’t say. Although, if he had to say, he was pretty sure it may have been a combination of the both of them.
His attention was drawn back to James as his son approached them. His gaze flickered over to his little girl, who was awake now on the bed she had been placed on. He turned his green eyes back to his son. So, Lily was ready to explain to them all what happened. He nodded his head and took a step towards his daughter, but stopped as he looked back at Chasity.
She didn’t want to be there. He studied her for a moment before nodding his head. “Take your time.” He said to her. He walked back over to his Daughter, sitting down on the opposite side of the bed James had previously taken. “Hey Sweetie.” He said, smiling lightly at her. He had come so close to losing her. And it brought despair to Harry thinking about that. He would never let anything happen to his kids, not if he could help it. Just as his mother had given her life for him, Harry would gladly give his life for his children.

Lily watched James leave her eyesight. She heard him interrupt their father's converstaion. Lily sighed and closed her eyes. She wished she could remember everything but, there was just this one part where she didn't remember anything, other than feeling really confused. What would they think about her when she told them? Lily thought, no she just knew they'd be disappointed in her. She'd done wrong but, so had Chasity. Lily felt she was more wrong than Chasity most likely.
Lily gave Harry and James a weak smile when they returned. This was going to be difficult to tell them. "It's...it's really all my fault," she started, before diving in the rest of the story. "I was sort of...hanging around the dungeons waiting for her," she said, glancing to the side. Lily didn't want to see their faces when she told them. "I was waiting to find Chasity so I could tell her to stay away from..." Lily paused and mumbled James' name. "She kept calling me 'little girl' and it was so...irritating. Then, I got this stupid idea in my head that she was trying to get between James and Penny and I just couldn't let that happen. So I - I started the duel."
By the end of her story, Lily was feeling pretty low. She kept quickly glanced at James and her father, trying to gauge their reactions. "It was stupid, I know, and I'm sure I'll get one hundred detentions for it but, she just made me so mad." she added, frowning afterwards. "How can you be friends with her?" she asked, looking at James. Lily knew she was being hypocritical. She was in love with a Slytherin but, no one really knew that one except for a few.

James followed his father quietly back over to Lily's bedside, standing next to where his father sat. His hands were shoved into his pockets, with the thumbs hooked through his belt loops. He stood with his shoulders slightly hunched forward as he glanced around the floor, anxiously awaiting for Lily to speak. James was about to find out what really caused this crazy event to happen, and he was afraid that his sister was at fault. He hated to think that Lily could do anything wrong... his innocent little sister.
Listening intently, James wanted to object from the first sentence she spoke. How could it be Lily's fault? But it wasn't like he wanted to blame Chasity either. Apparently it was Lily who instigated it. It was she who was waiting in the dungeons for the Slytherin. Lily wanted Chasity to stay away from who? He could barely hear it, but it definitely sounded like his name that she said. Then Lily admitted to being afraid Chasity would get between James and Penny.
James gulped. He wished he could disregard that idea as preposterous. But one night on the castle grounds, he and Chasity shared some very personal things. And then she had kissed him. James still didn't know what to think of that. And he definitely had no intentions of ever telling Penny. But now that got James' brain ticking. Was she really trying to get in between him and his girlfriend whom he loved? He shuffled his feet, before giving a weary glance over his shoulder at Chasity who was standing against the far wall looking petrified and as pale as the Gray Lady. He tried to read her, he wished he could bore into her mind and understand. Something inside of him hurt for her. James could barely listen to her when she told about her parents and how they don't care. He couldn't blame her for wanting to feel connected to someone. James just so happened to be that person. Did it constitute as cheating when she kissed him? It wasn't as if James pursued it. But now his thoughts were reeling, trying to figure out her true motives.
He turned back to his sister as she finished her story. Lily was known for her temper. It ran in the family; James could have a bit of a temper himself. But it sort of made sense for Lily to get all worked up over something like this. He just wished things turned out differently, and that Lily wasn't fatally hurt. At least she was better, it was just the aftermath they had to deal with now.
"How can you be friends with her?" Lily asked him. James blinked, shocked. He didn't know. He was still figuring everything out in his mind when Lily asked him the unexpected question. James felt like he was being pulled in two directions now. The first: to side with his sister, against Chasity for hurting Lily. The second: to defend Chasity for her troubled lifestyle. And then there was a part of him who just wanted to run away from it all and not deal with any of it.
"Well I-" James hesitated as he gave another look back at Chasity. "We're just friends, and friends are there for each other... I don't know," he rambled. "She doesn't really have anyone else." James paused to run a hand through his hair. He then removed his glasses to rub his eyes a bit. He was strained. He just wanted to go sleep. It was hard to please two people who hated each other. "But now I just don't know anymore," he finally added defeated.

Harry looked at his son as James as he came to stand beside him. He then turned his attention back to his daughter. When his daughter started, he listened to her story. His eyes had been fixed with his daughters. But the first words out of her mouth had been it was her fault. He looked down slightly at the bed, surprise, shock, and acknowledgement consuming him. He looked back up at his daughter again after a second.
He tried to look at the... event from several different situations, attempting not to be biased. But it was hard. This was his daughter they were talking about. The only things he could thing of were that Chasity had planted the idea of Lily starting it in her head. However, the tone and look on his daughters face told him that this wasn't the case. And it shocked him that his little flower could do such a thing. But then again, she was her mother's daughter through and through.
Ah, so that's what it was about. James. He had caught his son's name almost as if she had shouted it. He was well accustomed to looking and listening for anything that most wouldn't. He looked at James to gauge his son's reaction. He had always been over protective of his sister. He was wondering how he was taking it, that he was indirectly involved in her being where she was now.
He turned his attention back to Lily as she finished recounting the details. He was silent as he went from staring at her to the bed sheet again. What was he to say? He couldn't be up-set with her. How many duels had he been in? If he were to tell her off, he'd be nothing but a hypocrite. He sighed, wiping his face with his hand and resting his hand over his mouth slightly before looking at Lily, his hand dropping to the side.
After James was finished speaking he figured he might as well say something. He wasn't sure how Lily was taking his silence. "I'm not proud of the fact that you started a fight. But I won't pretend I'm not proud that you're telling the truth." he said. If there was one thing Harry always tried to give, it was honesty. He knew what it was like to be lied to. But then he thought of Ginny, he was lying to her every day after work. He was constantly telling her there was nothing to worry about...
"Do you remember how you got to the hospital wing?" he asked her.

Ginny had just gotten home from work and was making herself a cup of tea. She poured herself a cup and added a bit of cream to it and went to go sit in the living. Well at least thats what she was going to do when she heard the owl pecking at the kitchen window. She let it in and then took the letter it offered her. She set her cup down on a counter and opned the letter throwing the envelope down on the counter. She picked her cup back up and took a sip and started to skim the letter. The cup slipped from her hand as soon as she had finished reading. She muttered a curse and then quickly ran to the fire place and grabbed a hand full of floo powder. Her baby, her only little girl was hurt. Ginny threw the handful of powder in and shouted "The Three Broomsticks" clearly. She soon came tumbling out of the fire place at the pub and then started running towards the school. She burst threw the doors and ran towards the Hospital wing. It had been a few years since she had last been here, but she still remembered where everything was. She hurried up a flight of stairs and rounded a corner and then burst through the hospital doors. She quickly spotted HArry by a bed and ran towards it, and collapsed on her knees beside it and pulled her baby to her in a tight hug ."Ohh Lily angel what happened? Are you okay? What's going on?" she asked worriedly, panicky almost. words:269 tags:whoever wants to go lol comments:

First, Lily chose to study James. She needed to figure out his reaction. He looked...tired, a little uncertain with where things stood. Lils listened to his small rambling. How could you not know why you were friends with someone? She simply bobbed her head in a not, though not fully understanding. This whole situation obviously had James re-evaluating his friendship with Chasity. That was the outcome she wasn't intending to have but, had thought of earlier.
Next, Lily's eyes slid to Harry, waiting for his response. She couldn't get a clear reacton from his face. It was too hard to figure out. Plus, Lily wasn't feeling up to anymore deep thinking. Sleep was sounding better as the seconds ticked by. Whatever it was that the nurse gave her, it was making her drowsy. When Harry spoke, Lily was surprised at how calm her father's voice was. Then again, he'd always been like that. Still, she thought that he would give her the third degree for starting a duel in the dungeons. How did she get here? Lily closed her eyes, thinking back. All she could find past seeing the image of her own blood covered hands was darkness. Reopening her eyes she said, "I don't remember. I just remember looking at my hands covered in my own blood, and then Chasity. After that....it all gets really fuzzy and dark." she explained, wishing she could remember.
Lily was ready to snuggle back to her thoughts for a few moments when she caught sight of her mother bursting in. Great, Ginny was here. She sighed, knowing Ginny would just make an unnecessary scene. Oh no, Lily thought, seeing her mother's arms go up in the air. She winced as Ginny pulled her into a hug. Gin was practically squeezing the life out of her, and it was sending a sharp pain to move her abdomen yet. "Ow, ow, ow, ow," Lily said. "Mum, please don't - " she added, pulling away from Ginny. "I'm fine, mum." she added.

Harry listened quietly to his daughters words. So, she wasn't sure how she had gotten there. He thought about her words. From what he was described and what his daughter said (not to mention how pale she looked) the curse had been stronger than normal. He looked from his daughter to Chasity and back to his daughter again. She had maximized the attack on his daughter. But that shouldn't have led to that much confusion...
Harry wanted to kick himself in the head. Of course! It was so bloody obvious. "You were Confunded." he said to his daughter. "She had maximized either the Confundus Charm or the Sectumsempra Curse. I'd have to say it was the curse, but it carried over to the Confundus Charm. When you word your spells or curses together and then try to maximize the latter, it'll actually maximize both spells at once." he explained.
Just then the doors to the Hospital wing burst open. Harry barely had time to register his wife coming through the door when she was hugging Lily to a point that probably wouldn't be safe. He swiftly moved behind his wife and pulled her off of Lily. "Ginny, Love, calm down. Lily's fine, a bit sore but fine." he said, "I'll explain to you later, but you need to calm down, okay Gin?" he asked her.

James continued to stare at the floor, lost in the whole mess. How was he supposed to make things right? How was he supposed to be okay with both of them, when they both were at some kind of fault? It was easy for him to forgive his sister, he knew her best. She'd curse him if she was mad enough.
He was taken by surprise as his mum bounded through the hospital wing doors. He made a swift move to get out of the way as she dove at Lily. He looked on flabbergasted. James cringed, hearing Lily cry to be let go. His mum was a bit of a walking hyperbole at times. But he couldn't blame her, considering what had happened. He stepped back a few paces to let his mum and dad hover over their daughter. James would talk with Lily later, when their parents were out of the picture.
Chasity was still on the other side of the room looking awkward. He gave one last glance at his parents before turning slowly and walking towards the Slytherin. His head was still hanging a bit lower than normal, and his hands were still in his pockets as he approached her.
"Sorry my dad's so intimidating," he said quietly. James stood there for a minute, his anxiety hanging heavy in the air. "Chas... I don't hate you. I just..." he ran a hand down his tired face. His expression was pained as he thought of the prospect of Chasity trying to get between him and Penny. It could be possible. She did kiss him, so she must like him in some sort of way. Enough to kiss him while knowing he had a girlfriend. "You don't really want to get in between Penny and me, do you?" He couldn't look at her as he asked. After a sigh though, he forced himself to look up. Perhaps her face would tell more than her words.
